About Nina

“Never have I found the limits of the photographic potential.

Every horizon, upon being reached, reveals another beckoning in the distance.

Always, I am on the threshold.”

These words uttered by photojournalist Eugene Smith for a long time emblazoned Nina Boe’s business card, and continue to be an undertone in her perspective on photography. “I love being able to look through a lens, find a scene not everyone might catch, and still it in time so that I can share it with others,” she says. “Whether it’s a smile, a song, a protest or a scenic panorama, I begin to see and search for the stories everywhere, whether it’s obvious or more subliminal.”

Nina began her interest in photography in middle school via a disposable camera, working her way up to simple, affordable point-and-shoot models that appeased her until high school, when she took a course in photography under Robert Barbarus at Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle. Inspired by working with black-and-white photography, she began to work exclusively with 35mm photography until her favorite store for film processing went out of business a few years later. Though still a fan of film, Nina works now primarily in digital media; a more detailed list of the products she uses is available under the section entitled ‘Equipment‘. She has traveled to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Kenya and Norway, with a few stops on the way.

Nina would also like to extend many thanks for the support and help she has received with her work and website. Topping the list, she would like to thank Erik Zidowecki for his web support; Vahidin Memic for the fantastic web design ;  family and friends for their constant support; and last but not least, you for visiting the page! Any thoughts, comments or questions can be sent via the contact form.
